Masters in Administrative Sciences with over 40 years experience in Information Technology. Started off with programming in Assembly Level Language, Fortran and Cobol in the early seventies. Has seen the dramatic evolution of developments in Information Technology from the days of Unit Record Equipments to Mainframes and then to the introduction of Personal Computers and the present-day E-Commerce tools.
Has worked as Director IT and Director Flight Services at Pakistan International Airlines. He has also worked as General Manager of Food Services, Communications, Reservations Planning and MIS during his tenure in PIA. Earlier He he served Pakistan National Shipping Corporation as Data Processing Officer.
Possesses rich and varied experience of leading projects like PIA’s migration to SABRE, Passenger Reservation, Cargo Operations, Departure Control, ACARS and Load Control. He was involved in the establishment of PIA’s Call Centre, Development of PIA’s Web Site and introduction of Corporate E-mail system. He remained involved in the development of SOP’s, SLA’s, negotiations with GDS’s and NMC’s He has also been heading the Software teams for PIA’s financial systems like Revenue Accounting, General Accounting and Station Automation. He was the Project Incharge of PIA’s team during the construction of Karachi Jinnah Terminal and Lahore’s Allama Iqbal Airport.
The Hardware he worked upon was IBM System-32, IBM System 34, IBM 1401, IBM 360/50, IBM 370/148, IBM 4381, IBM 3090, IBM Multiprise, IBM Z10, ICL1901-A, NCR Tower 450, Tower 600, Tower 650, NCR System 3000, ICL 1902, ICL ME29. He has been a Faculty member of Institute of Business Administration Karachi for teaching Information Technology courses to MBA and PGD classes. He delivered lectures at IATA and SITA conventions and at senior management courses conducted at the PIA’s Training centre.
